Eastburn Vineyards

What started as Mark Eastburn’s dream of owning a prime vineyard in his native Oregon to produce outstanding wines became a reality on a crisp morning in the early days of the new millennium. Over lunch with a longtime colleague in the mortgage business, he learned of a remarkable property newly listed on the highest slopes of Parrett Mountain. Owned by an absentee German family for over 50 years, the south-east facing wheat field, a mere 30 minutes from downtown Portland, had the perfect potential for his vineyard.

Premium grapes deserve a state of the art winery and gifted winemaker. Mark found both at DePonte Cellars in the nearby Dundee Hills AVA where his close friend Scott Baldwin, owner of DePonte extends a ‘custom crush’ arrangement with Eastburn Vineyards. Winemaking phenomenon Isabelle Dutartre consults with Buddy on critical vineyard decisions and takes over when the fruit arrives at the winery.

Isabelle’s gentle and intuitive winemaking skills have earned her a growing recognition as one of Oregon’s most talented winemakers. Originally from France, Isabelle trained in Burgundy for 10 years and completed several vintages in Oregon. She made multiple transatlantic trips a year to oversee her wines, and recently relocated with her family to settle full time in the Willamette Valley.

Johan Vineyards

Residing on 85 acres of gently sloping estate vineyards in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Adjacent to the Van Duzer corridor, the vineyards are blessed with afternoon ocean breezes and cool evening temperatures that are ideal for ripening Burgundian varietals. Elevations range from approximately 180 to 380 feet. Soils are Helvetia, Steiwer, and Santiam silts which were formed primarily from ancient marine sedimentary rock.

We are passionate about making premium wines that showcase our estate vineyards. We know that if one starts with excellent grapes, handles the fruit carefully, and intervenes in the wine making process only when necessary, the wine should be great. Our wines offer elegance, balance, complexity, and ageability. All wines are made in small, hand-crafted batches to insure quality and enjoyment. We produce Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Vin Gris, Gruner Veltliner, and Blaufrankisch.

Mahonia Vineyards

Planted over 20 years ago by John D. Miller, Mahonia is one of Salem’s sustainable pioneers. Located in the gently rolling hills of south Salem, Oregon, the Jory soils contribute to exceptional wines, year after year!

Currently, Mahonia produces approximately 300 cases of highly-acclaimed wines annually, including Pinot noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. Their picturesque South Salem location is an ideal location for the vines, and easy to access for tastings! They are LIVE and Salmon Safe Certified, and are one of the few vineyards in Oregon to participate in Oregon’s Carbon Redcuction Challenge.

Misty Oaks Vineyards

Award-winning and is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery located just west of Sutherlin in the Umpqua Valley appellation. Owners Steve and Christy Simmons planted and now cultivate 15 acres, growing six varietals and producing their acclaimed wines at their own on-site winery. Named for the mists that hug the hills of the Tyee Range, often leaving only the tops of the gnarly oak trees visible, the vineyard is divided into distinctive growing areas where each unique grape variety can best thrive.

As the Simmons first tended their vineyards, they named these different blocks after some physical attribute or incident related to its development. As a tribute to these unique sites, each Misty Oaks wine is labeled with its own vineyard name. To that end the current offerings of wines crafted from the vineyard are: Gobbler’s Knob Red Blend, Constitution Ridge Pinot Blanc, Jones Road Cabernet Franc, Stuckagain Heights Pinot Noir, Julio’s Hill Pinot Gris, Friendswood Gewurtztraminer and Viper Trail Malbec.

Located in the Umpqua Valley Appellation in southern Oregon, Misty Oaks Vineyard was first planted in 2000 on a hillside in the Tyee Range just to the south and west of the towns of Sutherlin and Oakland.

Red Lily Vineyards

Les and Rachael Martin are essentially Spanish oenophiles! When they first encountered Spanish tempranillo many years ago, they were overwhelmed by its combination of raw power and subtle earthiness. As the two started exploring planting their first vineyard, they were excited by the fact that tempranillo seemed so well suited to the Southern Oregon climate, and in particular, the Applegate Valley where they live. The Martin’s brazenly set themselves on this path and have never once regretted it.

Red Lily is a terroir driven, small cuvee winery whose underlying philosophy is to create wines that have a sense of place. To put it simply, they strive to produce the highest quality wines possible that reflect the unique parcels of land on which the vines are planted. Their wines are created by an uncompromising and passionate focus on quality and attention to detail in all aspects of the wine making process. Great wines are created in the vineyard and this is where their winemaking starts. Sustainable practices, coupled with a tremendous amount of hand labor, allow them to keep the vines in balance and manage reduced yields. In the winery, a minimalist approach is taken during fermentation and aging, and gentle handling of the wine throughout the process permits the fruit to express itself naturally. Patience, patience, patience, and then just a bit more patience!

Thistle Wines

Beginning with being seduced by the heartbreak grape, Jon and Laura Jennison went a bit overboard and set out on a quest that ultimately ended on a beautiful hillside in Dundee, Oregon. They planted their first vines in the rich, red volcanic soil and then nurtured them through their formative years. After a few trials and a tribulation or two, the vines began to reach maturity and provided us with the grapes to make our first wines in 2003. The grapes are grown using organic methods and minimally handled in the cellar to capture the essence of the vineyard in our wine. Crews are hired as needed to help in the vineyard but we do everything else ourselves, from making the wine to bottling, labeling and shipping. If we don’t do it, it doesn’t get done!

Although their particular madness is Pinot Noir, they also make small lots of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc to keep life ever more interesting. Future production will be kept intentionally small so that they can dedicate their time and attention to growing grapes, making wine and enjoying life rather than managing employees.

Wooldridge Creek Winery

is located in the heart of the Applegate River Valley in Southern Oregon. The winery and vineyards are located on a rolling hillside overlooking the Applegate River Valley.
